Helping a Colleague

Nahum, BC

Tell us a little about yourself!

I am a paramedic manager with BC Emergency Health Services. I like photography and aviation. This pandemic has affected my professional greatly. I am currently on medical leave but I was quite active at the beginning of the pandemic.

Tell us about your #MakeWaves project.

I am a paramedic manager with BC Emergency Health Services. My area of responsibility is Vancouver and Richmond. One of the things that I do is calling the injured paramedics regularly, so they don’t get forgotten. I also take many of them out to lunch or coffee to keep them connected to this meaningful profession.

If chosen, I would like to use the $100 to get a fellow paramedic who could use some support at this time a supermarket gift card so that he can spend it on groceries. It’s a small token, but it will mean the world to him because it shows the world cares.

Who inspired you?
I volunteer several hundred hours every year and take my children to Africa to volunteer at home for abandoned children. One commitment I have is to mentor my children to give back to their community. My wife and I seem to have succeeded. I hope my kids will do the same with their kids when the time comes.

Your message to the community:
Be kind and care about your community deeply.
