Tell us a little about yourself!
I am a family physician in a semi rural town just outside of Kingston ON. Together with my colleagues, 7 other family doctors and our allied health staff, we continue to provide care to our 10, 000 patients during the pandemic in the best way we can.
I am also a mom to a 2 year old and an 8 month old and a wife to a general surgeon who is doing his best to provide care at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Tell us about your #MakeWaves project.
As we continue to provide primary care during the pandemic, we are finding it extremely difficult to reach the marginalized at risk patients who may be elderly and living alone on minimal to no income.
These people are at the highest risk of medical issues when they are isolated and unable to easily access care. We are especially finding it hard to provide them with equipment at home such as blood pressure machines, thermometers, and visits from the mobile blood lab due to monetary restrictions.
We would use the fund to supply these at risk individuals with the things they need to maintain their health at home safely.
